Unplanned session

Got a comp Saturday so wasn't going out Friday, but like you do, changed my mind last minute and decided to go local for a few hours. Only Had mackerel so set up running ledgers on both rods, one with mackerel head the other just chunks.
Arrived about 8pm and had 40 minutes before high water. Things were quiet in fact didn't get a nibble till gone 10pm and by midnight I'd had only a small schoolie. Well like you do thought I'd have one last cast and I had another take resulting in another pound fish. Quarter to one and I get a good run on mackerel head, it was still going when I hit it and felt nothing.

A new head went out and five minutes later another good rachet screaming run and this time I was in. Result this Bass of 4lb 7oz.



That was better! fish was returned and another head went out, and half hour later and another good take resulted in this hard fighting one of 6lb 9oz.



Slipped her back to fight again, stayed till 2am when I called it a night, 5 bass in total all released, so not a bad night for an unplanned one.
