After my success of Saturday i was itching to get back to my spot. So
Monday with the wife settled down to watch her soaps I took myself off
back there. Conditions were different though, it was clear skies with a
very bright moon, and the tide was at least 2 hours further out. This
it seems made all the difference, I arrived just gone 8pm and it was a
good hour before I had my first bite, and this was only a small knock.
Bites were less forthcoming than the other night and smaller but
eventually I managed to land a Bass of barely a pound, a while later
another of similar size.
Just before 11pm again I started to get
small taps, no different from the others I'd had, but then the carp rod
buried round and I struck and the fish took off like a bat out of hell.
Finally I thought a decent Bass, the fish made several powerful runs in
several directions, but eventually it was landed, to find not a Bass but
a nice 5lb thick lipped mullet.
I
stayed on till midnight but had nothing else, so that moon made all the
difference, but can't complain 2 Bass and had a New species for the
year. Will be back as soon as that moon has gone.
As always all fish were returned alive.
