short bass session

Wednesday evening found my mate and I on a solent beach for 7pm, a shallow beach of mixed ground that usually produces plenty of Bass over the winter, but with no frosts as yet on the island I wasn't hopeful. The first frosts send the crab out and the bass turn up on this beach, feeding over the lugworm beds.

Things were quiet but I did manage 3 plaice with the last one in being legal though all were returned.

Dean managed 2 small smoothounds of all things, wouldn't believe its almost December.

At 11pm we were sat chatting discussing packing up as we both had work the following day, when Dean's racket went, he then had a slack line bite and this beauty came in, he's only just taken up sea angling moving over from Carp and this was his first ever Sole and a specimen taboot at 2lb 2oz.

Well we had to leave after that, but will be back soon, and the only Bass we had I lost about 5 yards out around 3lb.

All fish were returned alive.
