After being ill all week, Friday I felt slightly better and the rain finally stopped about 7pm. I didn't feel good enough to trek down cliffs etc, so grabbing my Bass rod a pack of Mackeral and the bare essentials I was down the seafront, 2 minutes from home.
A running ledger with 4oz plain lead, 6/0 O'Shaughnessy finished off with a large chunk of Mackeral, all cast 20 yards out.
I was set up by 7.30pm with the bait in the water, just in time for the rain to return, luckily I had my waterproofs and it only lasted half hour.
I was getting small tugs almost from the off, finally a slightly better bite and target fish caught, albeit a small one going 1lb 7oz.
Photo'd and weighed I slipped it back, baited up and the small bites continued.
Again about 10pm a better bite with the rod pulling round hard, struck and this felt a better fish, and it was, by 2ozs at 1lb 9oz, must have had 3 shredded wheat as it fought well.
I fished on till 10.45pm but started feeling rough again so called it a night. No sign of the bigger Bass that frequent here this time of year, but there's always next time, and it was just nice to get out.
