Met Lighty at Chale car park and we went to the cliff top to have a look before committing to the climb down.
Well it was rough as a badgers backside, very windy with some weed in the surf, but looked Bassy, so we decided to give it a go.
We were set up by 6pm, despite the wind coming straight in off the sea the high cliffs were causing the wind to up and over so the beach had little at all, but that sea was bloody big.
It was impossible to fish 2 rods, but we perservered with one each by 9pm and no bites we'd had enough of reeling in every 10 minutes to remove the weed.
So the long steep climb back up the cliff and we were off to Alum Bay for some shelter.
Arrived and was set up again by 10.20pm.
I had a 2 hook flapper with worm for Sole etc and the other rod a pennel rig with either Squid, mackeral or sandeel for something bigger.
Things were quiet with me catching a few pout on worm, we fished the tide down and as it turned lighty had a good take on mackeral close in and was rewarded with this fine Bass of 3lb 9oz.
Baiting up again he was soon into another one going about 1.5lb and soon followed with a 3rd around the pound mark, as for me same tactics yards away and not so much as a nibble lol!
As quickly as the Bass had arrived they disappeared and it went quiet again, finally an hour later I managed a schoolie of my own.
We fished on till 5am but alas no more fish, so called it a night.
A very wet and windy night, but good company and a few fish made it worth while.
