Finished work early and with the wife working I decided to have a quick session at Yaverland, as I needed a Turbot for my species count, so arriving just gone 5pm I set up one rod with a 2 hook flapper with mackerel strip for the Turbot and the other a clip down with sandeel in the vain hope of a ray.
The weather was good for a change though there was a brisk wind blowing.
Well I cast the flapper rod out then followed with the sandeel, as I sat down expecting a long wait there was a rattle on the flapper and then a better pull, striking I felt some weight and in came my target species, a small Turbot.
Well job done and it only took a few minutes.I had a few more rattles which came to nothing, then just before 7pm I had a better knock, 5 minutes later another one, striking this felt slightly better and in came a double header of Turbot.
Well I stayed till 8pm but with the tide well on the ebb and the weed starting to show I called it time. Still 3 turbot in just over 2 hours was not bad.
