Saturday 20th February

I was on the beach saturday morning by 7.30am digging King Ragworm, but due to a heavy frost they were deep, but managed enough for a session.
I was on the beach again at the eastern end of the Island by 7pm in search of Bass and Flounder, usual rigs 2 hook flapper with worm and a pulley rig with either whole Squid or sandeel.I fished the last hour of the ebb and over Low got my 1st bite, a small rattle then a pull round and in came my 1st fish a small Flounder.

Well that was a good start, and with the tide starting to flood my hopes were high.
Nothing happened till just before 10pm when again I had a couple of nods on the rod tip then it flew round,I struck and blow me I didn't even feel the fish.
Well that was it, by midnight I hadn't had another bite so I moved to another venue, 5 minutes drive away. Shallow sandy venue interspersed with rock, a good venue for Bass and flounder.
2am and not even a nibble, so with the rods glistening and me with a heavy frost I went back to East-Cowes to fish the beach there.
I was desperate for a bite, any bite. well after three quaters of an hour I'd had a couple of knocks but not able to connect.
I gave it till 4am when I packed up to find a small rockling on.
So 2 fish in 9 hours things are looking up!

Despite the heavy frost it was a nice night to be out.
