Friday, and the plan was to head to chale for some Ray fishing, but as
the title suggests, it was a typical English summer, Wet and windy.
Chale cliffs are steep and really too dangerous to attempt in wet
conditions. So a change of plan was called for. Picked up some worm and
headed off to brambles bay in search of a Sole or Bream.
I was set up by 8pm just in time for the rain to start, just a misty drizzle to start with, size 2 sole rigs with ragworm as bait went out, half hour and a good bite resulted in a nice Ballan Wrasse of just under a pound. No more bites though till 10pm when the wife phoned to say she was off to bed and goodnight, when I had a nice bite, said good night then struck and one of my targets was in, a Black Bream, albeit a small one.
The rain arrived now with vengence, heavy and being driven by the ever increasing wind, 11pm and another bite, a Pout, it was nice and dark now and was hopefull of a good night, but that was the last bite for two and half hours.
About 1.30am I landed another pout and soon followed this with a school bass of a pound, 2 more pout followed abd that was it, 7 fish in total on a bloody awful night, called it a night at 4am. Funny thing is despite the weather and poor fishing, I enjoyed myself, so not all bad then. Roll-on the next trip.
