finally something to report

Friday evening after picking Nick up we were set up by 7pm at fort vic in search of Sole, it was breezy but the sea was calm.
One rod went out with worm on a wessex rig, 2 up one down, but couldn't bring myself to fish 2 rods with worm so the other I used a clip down pennel and sandeel.
There was quite a lot of weed about but within half hour I had a slack line bite, not sure whether it was weed or a fish I tightened the line and waited, again it went so this time I checked it and target fish was landed, a sole of 1lb 5oz.

Well we were off and running 1st sole in and it wasn't even dark yet, so we had visions of a fish filled night.
20 minutes later I landed a plump Pout and quickly followed with a schoolie of around 1.5lb.
Then things went quite the weed disappeared but so did the fish.
I changed the sandeel to half a bluey and stuck this out at distance, just before 10pm I finally get a take on the bluey but half way in the fish was gone, though weighty it didn't do a lot so could have been a doggie, so I quickly put on the other half of the bluey and cast out.
The bait was in the water no more than 30 seconds when the rod pulled round hard and a better fish was on.
After a good scrap in the shallow water I landed a fine Bass of 6lb 8oz.

And while I was unhooking the fish Nick had his first bite and landed this little Plaice, a new species for the year.

We fishd on till 11.30pm with me just adding another pout, with the weed now returned it was time to move to our 2nd venue, to fish the ebb.
We were set up again by 12.15am and within minutes I'd bagged another school bass, and 15 minutes later followed it with my 4th bass of the night, another nce schoolie, again it went quiet but we were hopeful of the fish coming back on the feed as the tide turned but alas it didn't happen, with Nick only adding another schoolie.
We finally called it a night at 5am.
