Monday evening and the wife was sat watching her soaps, so grabbing a packet of sandeels and blueys I went off to Yaverland for a short session in search of an Undulate which I need for the species count.
I was set up by 9pm the tide was well on its way out but have found that low water is a good time to fish, so a clip down rig with sandeel went out distance and strips of bluey on a flapper on the other rod for a turbot or Brill.
By 12.20am I was contemplating going home, apart from 2 little tugs I'd not had a proper bite, then a good slack line bite on the rod with sandeel, I tightened the line and waited but nothing happened, 5 minutes passed then I get a slow nodding on the rod so decided to strike.
Well there was some weight but didn't feel like a Ray, but to my delight in came this juvenile Blonde Ray a couple of pounds maybe, not my Undulate I was after but a new species all the same.
I fished on till 2am but with work the following day called it a night.
