The stretch of coast between Niton and Ventnor is extremely rocky with only a few areas of sand. Before fishing this area it would be a good idea to have a look at low tide. The marks at Reeth Bay,Puckaster Cove,Binnel and Woody Bay can provide some outstanding sport.
Fishing can be difficult and tackle losses high but the quality of the fishing can often make it a worthwhile effort.Daylight fishing with ragworm or crab will produce plenty of wrasse and although these are mainly small, the occasional fish up to 4 pounds can turn up.Put your bait onto a sandy patch and there is a good chance of a resonable plaice.Night fishing is often best here with pout, large bass, conger and the occasional ray likely to turn up.Use big baits and strong tackle.
The stretch from Ventnor to Bonchurch is defended by sea wall and the whole length is accesible from either end.
Night fishing from Ventnor beach, wheelers Bay and Bonchurch can produce some good conger and bass to large baits.Fish here during the daylight for wrasse and bass on crab baits.High tide is generally best, but some good bass can be had on the early flood.
