Well having received a Salt Bass rod for Xmas I was desperate to get out and give it a try.
Nice calm Day Xmas day, but no way would I be allowed out, but was allowed Boxing day. Got up to find wind and rain, so didn't bother, today looked better so off I went about 11am, arrived at the Duver to dig some Rag, after an hour and half looking for them I finally had enough for a short session.
On the beachcaster I had a 2 hook flapper cast at distance and the Bass rod a running ledger with beads and rag.
All was quiet till about 3pm when I was casting the beachcaster and saw the Bass rod pull round then slack line, returned to it but the fish didn't come back.
Just gone 4pm and a good bite on the beachcaster at distance strike and in comes my target species, a flounder of 1lb 10ozs.
A while later I also managed a small schoolie.
Fished on till nearly 6pm despite plenty of bites, probably small schoolies couldn't bag a fish on the new rod, but it was a pleasure to use.
